Why Swimming is a Key Way to Losing Weight

Weight is lost by following a healthy eating plan. Most weight loss diets advocate to just burn up more calories than are consumed. But it is not as simple as that.
Scientists have discovered in the last few years that to really lose weight, we have to change our eating habits.
There are new sensible, healthy eating plans on the market which teach you how to change your pattern of eating, therefore keeping your metabolism working so fast, that fat will be burned very quickly.
Before starting any exercise program, research online for a healthy lifelong eating plan such as Fat Loss 4 Idiots, and others. These new diets allow you to eat three meals per day plus snacks so you will have the energy to exercise.
Along with a healthy diet, swimming is one of the most enjoyable exercises.
There is zero impact on your body. The water supports you, and you can have fun while exercising! If it is summer, it is luxurious to be in the crystal, cool water, working out, and at the same time getting a tan, and enjoying the sunshine! Even in winter, most areas have an inside, heated pool. So the first thing is to find a swimming pool near you.
Swimming is one of the best ways to tone muscles and when swimming, you are actually having a full body workout. The more muscle you build, the more fat will be lost as muscles burn fat.

The heart and lungs get a good workout, and in fact, many people who suffer from asthma actually swim to improve their lungs, so the health benefits are endless.
Most pools are full in the evenings and weekends, which shows how much children enjoy swimming, and it is a great way to introduce your children to sports, as they see swimming as fun! If you prefer to work out in a quieter setting, go to the pool when the kids are at school.
Once you start swimming, it can become a lifetime sport, you don't have to be young or slim to do it. In fact it is ideal for the obese to swim, as there will be no strain on the knees and hips. It is a great exercise for runners or other athletes who are injured and need to have a no impact sport to rehabilitate. It improves cardio - vascular fitness.
Try these weight loss exercises in the pool :
o Hold a polystyrene board in front of you with your arms outstretched,
kick as hard as you can for six lengths. You will feel tiredness in your legs but no pain as there is no impact.
o Hold on to the edge of the pool, or use the board again and do breaststroke legs (like a frog kicking) for six lengths of the pool.

o 'Run' across the shallow width of the pool as fast as you can- this will burn fat and strengthen your legs.
o Stand in one place and lift your knees, alternating between each knee.
o Try holding the board between your outstretched legs and swim freestyle across the pool with your arms only.
o Do the same as above but use the breaststroke arms.
o With your back to the wall, hold on top of the wall with your arms, and kick your feet in front of you for ten minutes
o Hold the wall as above, and do "scissor" exercises with your legs.

Weight loss by swimming is not a difficult thing to do. Most pools also have aqua aerobics classes if you enjoy a group setting.
